Mangrove Litter Survey
Join Us for a Mangrove Litter Audit on the Brunswick River!
Did you know that waste often gets caught in the mangroves along the Brunswick River? We’re on a mission to find out what kind of waste is there and how much we have in our local community.
In collaboration with Byron Shire Council as part of their Litter Prevention Program, we’ll conduct a Key Littered Item Survey (KLIS) to assess the situation. After the audit, we’ll be running educational and awareness campaigns to find ways to reduce waste and prevent it from suffocating this vital ecosystem.

We’re looking for 8 enthusiastic volunteers to join us in the mangroves for this important work. If you don’t mind getting a little muddy and want to learn how to audit litter, we’d love to have you!
What is a Key Littered Item Survey (KLIS)?
It’s a long-term program for monitoring marine debris along the NSW coast, giving us valuable insights into the types and quantities of waste affecting our waterways.
